The 180 Degrees Abstinence Program is an outreach ministry of Real Options, a pregnancy resource clinic. 180 Degrees is a sexual risk avoidance program designed to help teenagers recognize the consequences of premarital sex, the beauty of a healthy marriage relationships, and turn their thinking about sex around a whole 180 degrees.
This position will be responsible for knowing the most current curriculum of the 180 Degrees program and to make presentations as assigned by the Education Director. These presentations are mostly done in classroom settings but others do occur in assemblies, churches and civic organizations. The Educator is required to present the curriculum in a manner that conveys to its audience subject knowledge, accuracy, honesty, and professionalism that indicates the purpose of the subject. The 180 Degrees program Educator is a spokesperson and representative of the ministry of Real Options and must conduct themselves in a way that reflects our mission goals.
The 180 Degrees Program Educator will report and take direction from the Education Director and will be accountable to the Executive Director. The Education Director, in conjunction with the Executive Director will conduct an annual review of job performance.
The 180 Degrees Program Educator will perform some or all of the following:
Responsible for learning the content of the current curriculum and answerable to any and all who may ask questions or may make a comment needing clarification
Required to keep informed on issues and trends relating to teen sexuality
Ongoing research of materials related to abstinence education, teen sexuality, STD’s and other areas as directed by the Education Director
180 Degrees Program material will be presented to Junior High and Senior High students and assigned by the Education Director
Trendy, stylish but modest attire while presenting
2-3 times per month you may be required to present in the evening and/or weekend (this will be assigned and approved in advance)
Your own personal story may be given if applicable
Keep upcoming events current and updated on the 180 Degrees website
Write two newsletter articles yearly relevant to the 180 Degrees ministry
Represent the 180 Degrees ministry at fundraising events, community outreach events and other locations to help promote the 180 Degrees program
Attend monthly staff meetings*
Attend volunteer in-service events* (this may include evenings)
Work one evening shift per month during Clinics evening hours*
Attend Real Options Volunteer training course*
Assist with Clinic administrative tasks during non-speaking schedule
Take direction from Education Director and Executive Director
*As Speaking schedule permits
Pro-Life, Christ follower, and believes that the Bible is the inerrant word of God
Bachelor’s Degree in related field is preferred
Past experience with public speaking or proven ability to speak publicly
Punctual and detail orientated
High energy, passionate, a person of integrity
Self-motivated, self-starter, needing very little direction on a daily basis
Proficient in MS Office and computer literate
Proficient in Prezi is preferred
Required to sign and adhere to our Statement of Faith and Commitment to Care
Administrative work is usually performed in an office environment, but the mission of the ministry may take them to non-standard work places. Presentations of the 180 Degrees program will take place in a non-standard work place; (i.e., school auditorium, school classroom, church facility, community outreach facilities), to name a few
Works a standard 40 hours work week, but additionally may work evening, weekends, and additional hours to accommodate activities that represent the 180 Degrees program.
